Columbus would be opposed: in Ireland smoking control heats up

Irish Minister of Health James Reilly considers that tobacco smoking control should appear on the agenda in nearest future.
Politician affirms that now 12 experts of this area prepare about 60 clauses to renew legislative framework according to which will be introduced fines and other sanctions for smoking in prohibited places and so on. At the same time tobacco products will continue to be sold on Ireland territory, however government intends to increase excise taxes and as result to increase price of cigarettes. Number of shopping units where will be possible to buy cigarettes will be minimized. So, it appears that measures of smoking control in Ireland will be serious.
Reilly in his turn has sharply expressed in address of his compatriots that have taken to tobacco. Politician considers that smoking cannot be considered as acceptable habit as it is a vicious habit and it is necessary to combat this problem: tobacco prevention campaign was started in Ireland back in 2004 when was introduced full ban on smoking in public places, including restaurants, pubs, coffee shops and so on. In Health Minister tell that it helped.
Latvia supports Ireland: here were introduced measures to combat smoking as well. American scientists agree with politicians: they have proved how dangerous maybe smoking in the room.
