Menthol cigarettes provoke cancer rarer?

Menthol cigarettes are not less harmful from point of view danger of lung cancer development than any other, new research has shown. As the matter of fact quantity of died of lung cancer smokers of menthol cigarettes is even some lower, informs The Times of India. To such conclusions came researchers from Vanderbilt-Ingram Oncology center in Nashville (Tennessee State) and International Institute of epidemiology in Rockville (Maryland State).

Author of research William Jr. Blot and his colleagues have examined data of 85806 people. They have found 440 of people with lung cancer and they have compared them with control group of 2213 people with same demographic data, such us race, age and gender but without lung cancer.

Experiment has shown that menthol cigarettes were connected with lower sickness rate of lung cancer and less quantity of fatal cases than usual cigarettes. So, among people, that smoke twenty and more cigarettes a day, menthol smokers have had approximately twelve times more chances for lung cancer development than non-smoking people, while all other smokers have had possibility of sickness approximately 21 times higher.

Menthol is banding that is contained in mint or that is produced syntactically. It is known that it can activate neurons that are responsible for sense of cold in nervous system. That is why during menthol cigarettes smoking person doesn't fill whole gravity of tobacco, what, as researchers note, doesn't exclude their danger for health.

And such cigarettes make approximately 25 per cent of tobacco market, but preference to menthol cigarettes gives the most unprotected group of citizens - teenagers (50 per cent of whole quantity of smokers).
