| In Iceland have decided to fully prohibit cigarette saleJuly 25, 2011 In Iceland will be considered draft law according to which cigarette sale in usual shops will become fully prohibited. As Britain printing "Guardian" informs, this initiative is part of government 10 years plan that is directed as well on limitation of smoking in public places. Parliament representative has also expressed opinion that present prices on cigarettes in Iceland are made without taking into account big expenses that their consumers bring. According to authors' draft law price of tobacco products should be minimum triply increased. Besides this it is planned to allow cigarette sale only in pharmacies and only a person that is older than 20 years will be able to buy them. In the future it will be possible to acquire tobacco only with medical certificate. Besides, Iceland plans to borrow idea from Australia and start selling cigarettes in monotone pack without indicating brand. Tobacco products manufacturers have already promised to apply to court in order to protect their brands. Representatives of cigarettes manufacturers consider that such prohibitions will also reduce considerable their profit, will effect economy and fill market with counterfeit. Different restrictions in regards of smoking are introduced in different countries lately all over the world. In Belgium, from July 1st came into force smoking ban in all cafes without limitation, similar measures have been taken in China, Spain, USA and some other countries. |
