Britain. Country introduces ban for open of display cigarettes

Shops that have got ready for "Day X" in advance already lose profits.

Ban for open display of cigarettes started to influence sales before being introduced as shops have closed their cigarette departments in advance. This ban came into force on April 6.

As chief manager of Imperial Tobacco UK Amal Pramanik has informed to The Grosser's, stores have already encountered decrease of sales by 3%. He has also noted that trade can lose because of various legislative initiatives in tobacco control field about 200 million pounds sterling.

More interesting would be to watch buyers' behavior who became confused after not finding cigarettes in the shop. According to Mr. Pramanik words, buyers first of all thought that tobacco has disappeared for good from shelves.

In Great Britain on government level undertakes active measures against smoking among minors. Prices on cigarettes are raised regularly. Amal Pramanik has marked that for the last two years price of cigarette brand Lambert & Butler has raised by 30 %.

Large manufacturing Companies don't hide their attitude to ban of open display and also to initiatives that suppose to oblige Companies refuse branding of their packs and move to one-type packs. According to opinion of British American Tobacco representatives such measures can lead to failure in communication with adult consumers and also to rise of illegal market and counterfeit products. British American Tobacco even has two mini-films that show all back sides of measures directed to hardening legislation.

Major manufacturers don't agree with all law making initiatives. Foe example "Philip Morris" Company considers that any regulation should be well-considered and deliberate.
