Electronic cigarettes will be prohibited for teenagers
January 9, 2013
From January 1st in New York State comes into force law that prohibits sale of electronic cigarettes to persons that haven't reached 18 years. The author of respective bill became senator-republican Owen Johnson (Long-Island).
Johnson for almost a year has demonstrated his colleagues from Albany that influence of electronic cigarettes on human body is still not examined. He has compared stylish smoking devices with usual cigarettes many times.
However, many democrats don't agree with Johnson categorically. They have asserted that electronic cigarettes, on the contrary, wean teenagers from bad habit. Democrats were partly supported by organization for real tobacco smoke control who considers electronic cigarettes devices for smoking imitation.
Anyway, electronic cigarettes have still supplemented the list of tobacco products prohibited for sale to minors, among them - cigars, chewing tobacco and snuff and also herbal mixtures. Penalty for retail sellers for first infringement of new law will make from 300 to 1000 USD. Next infringements may lead to losing the license by Sellers. Let's remind that in New York state are the highest tobacco taxes in the world. Smoking representatives of middle class spent on cigarettes from 15 % to 20 % of their earnings.
