| Humidor. Part 2January 18, 2010 So, humidor is a box or cofferet provided with moisturizing device humidity fire in the quality of which is usually used organic sponge in case with numerous cuts or special ceramic element: and the first and the second absorb well and slowly return humidity. For filling the moisturizing device it is recommended to use water (preferably distilled) and to do it 1-2 times a month depending on humidifier type. Also exist special mortars for filling they allow to fill humidor more seldom. Many humidors are provided with hygrometers, devices that measure relative humidity. However, their accuracy is often not high, that is why it is reasonable to check cigars sometimes: just press them a little, touch them as when buying. According to expert;s words in some models from Dunhill are used quite precise hygrometers but in Davidoff humidors' assortment there are such that are not provided with hygrometers, however, if observing conditions of use there is warranty that humidity will be maintained autonomously on optimal level. The most precise are considered electronic hygrometers but they cost more what is reflected in price of humidors themselves. So humidor is not just a “box” for cigars, it is very complex and important device that allows to store cigars in ideal conditions. |
